Danke dear

Throughout the course of the work week, I hear my colleagues say “Danke dir” (literally, I thank you, minus the ‘ich’). Today, after one week of being there, I finally asked “Why do you call everyone ‘dear’?” Slight laughter followed and then an explanation there are three different words for “you” and dir is one of them.

The joys of learning a new language…

Which reminds me – today makes 2 weeks in Germany! I still haven’t ventured  outside of Bavaria and we are splitting our time between Erlangen, Nuremberg and  Wurzburg. Wurzburg remains my favorite city in Germany (so far – I have a lot of  exploring to do!) Where would you like to see me visit?

Leave a comment and let me know.

Danke dir!

Of course I want to read from you visiting the Black Forest and Lake Konstanz. Just to show you two beautiful parts of Germany outside Bavaria. :)

I had a good time in Koln when we visited. I spent a good 3 years flying back and forth between Milwaukee and Germany, the hubby was a British expat in Frankfurt. Definitely enjoy the Christmas Market in Nuremburg. Hmmm, where else…I remember enjoying the cable car ride in Rudesheim, great view. They also have a bizarre museum of torture there too lol – The Folter Museum.
